No space for MySpace

Accessing MySpace.com on
campus computers is no longer possible, even though UTB/TSC
officials say they are not blocking the popular Web site.
The networking site has been inaccessible from campus since
Tuesday, officials said.
“We’re not blocking it,” said Ubaldo Martinez, assistant
director of the Information Resources Department, who put the
blame on a device that controls the Internet.

Two birthdays, one celebration

The yearlong celebration of UTB’s 15th
year and TSC’s 80th year begins Friday.
Olivia Rivas, chair of the School
Specialties Department, is coordinating the anniversary
celebration.
At 10 a.m. Friday, the anniversary year
kicks off with a speech by UTB/TSC President Juliet V.
García outside the Arnulfo L. Oliveira Memorial Library. The
clock on the exterior of the library, which rang for the
first time Sept. 1, 1991 to mark the partnership of both
institutions, will ring again. Members of the Student
Government Association and distinguished alumni also will
speak.

Student bound for fashion design
school to unveil creations

Junior communication major Carla Rendon will host a fashion
show Saturday in the SET-B Lecture Hall.
“The whole reason for this fashion show
is because I was accepted to the Brooks College in Long
Beach, Calif.,” said Rendon, who likes to call herself Karla
Chaos.
She has been trying for a year to get
accepted to the college and plans to pursue a degree in
fashion design when she starts classes later this fall.
