FRIDAY SEPT. 21, 2007 - John Cook, Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Communication will hold Free Speech Alley, between North and South. The discussions will be held throughout the semester further announcements on the times and dates will be made.
The discussions focus on social issues large and small. In one discussion held in spring 2007 students debated on weather or not our nation was ready for woman president.
A Free Speech Alley kick will be held on Oct. 3, which will focus on border security the discussion will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. At that time, students and the community will have an opportunity to voice their opinions. The topic on border security comes before UTB/TSC will hold its first nationally televised seminar, titled, “Border Security and the Challenges to our Community” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday Oct. 3, in the Set B- Lecture Hall.
Students enrolled in any of Dr. Cook’s classes may earn extra credit if they participate. But simply going to the discussions is not enough a student must actually speak to earn the extra credit.
