Marty Lewis has taught English and composition at UTB/TSC for more than 25 years, serving six of those years as department chair. He earned a doctorate in American Literature from the University of Texas at Austin and wrote a dissertation on the parallels between the poetry of Wallace Stevens and the process philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead.
His specialties are modern poetry, composition, composition theory, literary criticism, and creative writing. For the last several years he has focused on the work of Sandra Cisneros, particularly her positions on class and ethnicity. Some of his poetry has been published and he is currently circulating a collection of poems entitled, “Poems Overheard in the Beer Joints.” |
