Dr. Farhat Iftekharuddin is Professor of English at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He was the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts for several years. He is currently the Special Assistant to the Provost for International Programs.
He constantly strives to achieve a balance in his various duties: teaching, research, and administrative assignments. He struggles with his inept hand at writing. He has written on such authors as Isabel Allende, Sandra Cisneros, Rudolpho Anaya, Carlos Fuentes, and Salman Rushdie among others.
He is the Editor of the scholarly journal Short Story. The study of literature is his intellectual pursuit; his wife Maria and his son Alfredo are his passion; and fishing is his sport.
