The Criminal Justice Department at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College is committed to providing a quality educational opportunity for all students interested in a professional criminal justice career. It recognizes that professional practitioners require the highest quality of academic education and professional training to meet the demands of an increasingly complex and rapidly developing criminal justice system.

 

The faculty recognizes the importance of a positive and open learning environment where students are allowed to achieve their personal, academic and professional goals. The department and faculty are committed to the preparation of graduates to be competitive at all entry level positions in the criminal justice system. These position include, but are not limited to, law enforcement, parole and probation, corrections, juvenile justice, and graduate study has the highest departmental priority.

 

All graduates of the criminal justice program will be professional practitioners who are literate, articulate, critical thinkers, scientifically evaluative, and able to make theoretical applications to practical situations.
