The George Truan Scholarship Endowment

 Specified Award Criteria

 

1.     The scholarship is open to all students who are a declared Art Major.

2.     A student must be a US citizen or a US Resident Alien.

3.     A student must enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours and take at least one art major course as part of the 12 hours.

4.     The Scholarship will cover tuition and fees and a stipend of 50 dollars for

            A. each studio class will be awarded for supplies

            B. or for art history books. 

        Students must submit all receipts from purchases made to the Endowment office.

5.     The scholarship is renewable upon successful completion of each semester course work.  Student must reapply for successive year award.

6.     There is no specified GPA minimum other then the minimum required to enroll in good standing.  Students should have at least a C average on all the non art classes.

7.     The student chosen for the George Truan Endowment Scholarship should be someone who has a financial need for assistance and who is level headed and has demonstrated thru choices he/she makes that his/her priorities are clear indicators of  his/her goals (to be a professional visual artist or art educator).

8.     The scholarship is open to junior and senior art majors.

 

The Committee

 

1.     The committee will be called The George Truan Scholarship Endowment Scholarship Committee which will be compromised by members of the Visual Art Faculty and will award the scholarship based on the specified criteria.

2.     The committee will be chaired by an art faculty member who will be responsible for tracking the recipient.

3.     Only one scholarship per year will be awarded.  A current recipient must reapply each year through a completive process and satisfy the specified criteria again.

 

The Award

 

1.      Student must submit a portfolio to the chair of the committee who will then share with the committee. 

2.      The Portfolio should contain samples of the student’s artwork, a bio, and a statement explaining why he or she is deserving of the scholarship.

3.     Upon selection the student will then be sent to the appropriate university department for processing.

George Truan Memorial Visual Art Scholarship

 Specified Award Criteria

 

The George Truan Memorial Visual Scholarship is a department financial aide scholarship given to lower division students who are art majors and art minors.  The award varies between 250 to 500 dollars per semester dependent on fund availability.  Students can apply directly to the department, through the Financial Aide Office, or by contacting the chair of the George Truan Memorial Visual Art Scholarship committee chair.

Consideration will be given to students who maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and are incoming freshman. Faculty will make recommendations to the Department of Fine Arts Chairperson.  A student can reapply for the scholarship, but must meet the requirements.

 

 

The Richard Cruz Painting Scholarship      Apply for fall and spring.

 Specified Award Criteria

 

1.    The scholarship is open to all students who are a declared Art Major.

2.     A student must be a US citizen or a US Resident Alien.

3.     A student must enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours and take at least one art major course as part of the 12 hours.

4.     The Scholarship is for 500.00 awarded once during a awarding semester.

5.    The scholarship is renewable upon successful completion of each semester course work.  Student must reapply for successive year award.

6.    There is a specified GPA minimum of 3.0.

7.    The student chosen for the Richard Cruz Scholarship should be someone who has demonstrated a commitment to painting and is a painting major.

8.    The scholarship is open to freshman and senior art majors.

 

 

The Committee

 

1.     The committee will be called The Richard Cruz Panting Scholarship Committee which will be compromised by members of the 2-d Visual Art Faculty and will award the scholarship based on the specified criteria—a portfolio of previous painting and a letter stating why one is worthy of the award.

2.     The committee will be chaired by an art faculty member who will be responsible for tracking the recipient.

3.     Only one scholarship per year will be awarded.  A current recipient must reapply each year through a completive process and satisfy the specified criteria again.

 

The Award
