Nelly Estrada, biology undergraduate, has been selected as one of 24 nationwide awardees of the American Physiological Society Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship, 2008.  Dr. Masako Isokawa is the research host for Nelly.

Dr. Masako Isokawa has received a three year NIH Academic Research Enhancement Award beginning February 1, 2008.  She and her students will be studying the biological functions of a natural neuronal molecule that has a high affinity to the cannabinoid receptor in the brain.

Emilio R. Garrido-Sanabria, MD, PhD., has received two grant awards in the Fall 2007:

1) Support of Competitive Research (SCORE) Research Advancement Award (SC1) (08/01/07-07/31/11) from NIH/NIGMS/MBRS to develop a project entitled: Molecular determinants of mossy fiber presynaptic channelopathies in epilepsy.

2) A R21 grant was awarded in September from the National Institute of Health and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders, (NINDS)  (12/01/07-11/30/09) to Dr. Emilio Garrido and co-investigators: Masoud Zarei and Boris Ermolinsky. Project title: Targeted immunoliposomes for cell-type specific gene therapy of epilepsy.
