Resigns as Scorpion Volleyball Coach
Posted December 18, 2007
Marcus Young, head coach of the Scorpion women’s volleyball
team, has resigned because of personal reasons, Director of
Athletics Dan Huntley announced Tuesday, December 18.
Young took over as head coach of the Scorpions in August. UTB/TSC advanced to the 2007 NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Tournament and finished tied for fifth in the nation with a 36-9 record.
“We appreciate everything Coach Young did for our volleyball program this past season,” Huntley said. “I wish Marcus the best of luck in his future and thank him for his service to our university.”
From 1996-99, Young was an assistant coach/head recruiter and interim head coach at East Carolina University, an NCAA Division I institution. In 1995, he was an assistant at Mount Olive College, an NCAA Division II institution. For 2000-2005, he was the head coach of Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda, Calif., posting a record of 120-67, and advanced to the postseason each year.
A national search for a successor will begin immediately.
