Milasauskas, Bracero Receive NAIA
All-American Honors
Posted December 4, 2007
Scorpion middle
blocker Talita Milasauskas has been named to the Second Team and setter Daianarah Bracero
has been named Honorable Mention of
the NAIA Women's Volleyball
All-America team.
Milasauskas, a 6-2 freshman from Sao Paulo, Brazil, becomes the first Scorpion student-athlete to receive first team or second team All-American honors in the NAIA. The Scorpions had several players honored when they competed in the junior college level.
Both were big reasons that the Scorpions finished the season with a 36-9 record, winning the Red River Athletic Conference and NAIA Region VI Championships. The Scorpions won three matches at the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championships November 28-December 1, but lost in the quarterfinals to eventual national champion Fresno Pacific University. The Scorpions finished tied for fifth in the nation.
Milasauskas had 690 kills in 158 games, an average of 4.37 per game. She also had 88 aces (0.56 APG), 452 digs (2.86 DPG), 105 solo blocks and 155 assisted blocks for a total of 260 (1.65 BPG).
She had 16 double-doubles and five triple-doubles, including an outstanding performance in the Championship Bracket first-round victory over Madonna University (Mich.), which advanced the Scorpions into the quarterfinals. In that 3-1 win, she had 22 kills, 14 digs and 13 blocks.
Bracero finished the season with 1,810 assists, an average of 11.8 per game.
Milasauskas has received several other outstanding honors this season, including the RRAC and NAIA Region VI Player of the Year. She also received RRAC Player of the Week honors six times during the season.
