Volleyball Match against UTPA Date Changed to November 1
Posted October 17, 2007
The UTB/TSC Scorpions and The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs
have agreed to move their upcoming volleyball match at the UTPA
Fieldhouse in Edinburg to Thursday, November 1.
UTB/TSC requested the date change because of a potential date conflict with the Scorpion men's and/or women's soccer teams' participation in the NAIA Region VI playoffs Saturday, November 3, the date the volleyball match was originally scheduled for.
"I am very excited about developing our athletic relationship with UTPA," UTB/TSC Director of Athletics Dan Huntley said. "We hope that this game can help our universities develop a great rivalry for the Valley. We appreciate the accommodation Scott Street and Coach (Angela) Hubbard have made so that we may be able to have our staff and students attend both contests.
"We did not want to compromise our ability to host a potential playoff game by having to choose between supporting one team instead over another."
The date change also gives the UTPA volleyball team more time after the Scorpion match to prepare for a three-match road schedule on November 6, 9 and 10.
UTB/TSC and UTPA will be playing an intercollegiate athletics activity for the first time in at least 50 years. UTPA is a longtime member of NCAA Division I and UTB/TSC is a second-year member of the NAIA.
