Scorpions Host Huston-Tillotson Saturday

The UTB/TSC Scorpions, the top-ranked team in NAIA Region VI, look to extend their five-match winning streak against winless Huston-Tillotson University at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 13, at the Manuel Garza B. Gymnasium.

It's a Red River Athletic Conference South match, where the Scorpions are 4-0 and HTU is 0-3. Overall, UTB/TSC is 20-5 and riding a five-match winning streak. UTB/TSC is ranked No. 22 in the latest NAIA national poll released October 10.

The match is also the first of four straight home matches for the Scorpions, who have been on the road for five straight weekends. UTB/TSC hosts St. Thomas University of Houston Monday, October 15, then hosts both Houston Baptist University and Southwestern Assemblies of God University Saturday, October 20.

UTB/TSC has already defeated HTU (0-24) once handily September 29 in Austin by scores of 30-12, 30-13, and 30-19.

The Scorpions are led by a powerful front line that has dominated opponents in the conference.

Freshman Talita Milasauskas (6-2), who received RRAC and Region IV Player of the Week honors this past week, leads the team with a 4.1 kill per game average, 1.7 blocks per game average, and 0.7 aces per game average. Her blocks average is ninth best in the country and is tops in Region VI.

Claudia Alarcon (5-11) averages 3.2 kills per game and 3.1 digs per game, which leads the team.

Setter Daianarah Bracero (5-11) leads the RRAC in assists, averaging 11.6 per game.

Katie Japp (6-1) and Jenny Ashley (5-10) average 2.2 and 2.1 kills per game, respectively.
