Scorpions Visit Nebraska for 4 Games in 2 Days

HASTINGS, Neb. -- The UTB/TSC Scorpion volleyball team, ranked 25th in the newest NAIA national poll, flies into action Friday and Saturday, September 14-15, to compete in the Hastings College Tournament.

The Scorpions open play against Central Methodist University (5-2) at 12 noon Friday, September 14, before taking on Northwestern College (7-4, the NAIA"s 24th-ranked team at 6 p.m.

 

“This tournament will let us see how well we match up against nationally ranked teams,” Scorpion volleyball coach Marcus Young said. “This will let other people notice that UTB/TSC is a good team.”

 

On slate for the Scorpions, in the second day of the tournament are matches against Concordia University (7-3) at 11 a.m. and Dordt College (13-1) at 5 p.m.

 

Scorpion category leaders include Talita Milasauskas in aces (0.8 per game), kills (4.2) and blocks (1.5), Daianarah Bracero in assists (11.4), and Katie Japp in digs (2.4).

 

The Scorpions will be playing in Hastings, located about 160 miles west of Japp's hometown of Omaha, Neb.

 

After the Nebraska trip, the Scorpions will be home for their first conference match of the season against College of Southwest at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 18 at the Manuel B. Garza Gym.
