Posted September 12, 2007
The UTB/TSC Scorpions are ranked 25th in the nation in the NAIA Top 25 women's volleyball teams, the first national ranking for any Scorpion sport since joining the NAIA.

Also, middle blocker Talita Milasauskas was named Red River Athletic Conference and Region VI Player of the Week for the week of September 3-9.

"I am very excited that our program has earned the respect of the voters in the NAIA," UTB/TSC Athletics Director Dan Huntley said.

"The work of Coach (Bruce, former coach) Atkinson and Coach (Marcus) Young has paid off and our women should be very proud of this accomplishment.  We hope that we will continue to earn the respect of the voters throughout the rest of the season."

Last week, the Scorpions (9-3) received 11 votes in the national poll and were tied for 29th place among NAIA teams. This week, they received 28 votes.

The Scorpions won four matches last week, defeating three NAIA opponents in Region VI. UTB/TSC, the top-ranked team in Region VI, has won eight of its last nine matches after starting the season 0-2.

Fresno Pacific University (Calif.) is the top-ranked team with a 9-0 record. For the NAIA press release about the latest national rankings, click here.

For the week, she had 60 kills on 105 attempts with just 16 errors (.419 kill percentage). In a 3-0 victory over SAGU, she accounted for 22 kills on 26 attempts with two errors and added 14 kills in a sweep of Southern Nazarene University (Okla.). Milasauskas also chipped in 15 digs, 24 blocks and 15 service aces.
