Striker Julia Dell-Aquila signed a Red River Athletic Conference Letter of Intent to play women's soccer for the UTB/TSC Scorpions during a ceremony Monday, February 4.
Dell-Aquila, a native of Thornhill, Toronto, Canada, will play midfielder for the Scorpions in the fall. She becomes the fourth new recruit to sign with the Scorpions in the last week, and the third from Canada.
"Julia is exactly what we are looking for in a forward with her mentality and strong work ethic," head coach Nik Barjaktarevic said. "She makes very good decisions on and off the ball and we hope to have a reliable goal scorer in her for the years to come."
Dell-Aquila is expected to graduate in June from St. Elizabeth High School in Thornhill. She has played for the Glenshields Under-21 Soccer Club that won its league three straight years. She was also captain of her high school team that won its league title.
Dell-Aquila becomes the fourth women's soccer player to sign with the Scorpions this fall. Midfielders Theresa Berman and Sara DiBenedetto of Canada and Milica Mihajlovic of Serbia were the first three recruits signed.
UTB/TSC will return 13 players from the 2007 inaugural women’s soccer team that finished 13-7 and won the RRAC Tournament Championship. The Scorpions were eliminated in the NAIA Region VI quarterfinals.
Barjaktarevic is expected to sign more recruits this spring.
