FORT WORTH -- The UTB/TSC men's soccer team will meet Texas College in its Red River Athletic Conference semifinal game at 6 p.m. Friday, October 26, at Martin Field on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University.

The Scorpions, 11-4-1 and regular season champs of the RRAC, faced Texas College in Brownsville on October 19 and came away with a 3-1 victory, clinching the conference championship.

UTB/TSC had a bye in first-round action because of its top seeding. Texas College knocked off fifth-seeded Northwood, 4-1, Thursday night.

Texas College, the defending RRAC regular season champion, was missing three players in their game against the Scorpions because they had received red cards in the previous game against Northwood University.

The Steers are the fourth-ranked team in the conference tournament, and the Scorpions are the top seed. At the 2006 RRAC Tournament, Texas College (7-8-3) was the top seed and was upset by Houston Baptist University, the fourth seed, in the semifinals.

Scorpion Coach Dan Balaguero, who was named RRAC Coach of the Year, knows he is in for a battle against the Steers.

"They are a dangerous team, and we have the utmost respect for them," Balaguero said. "When we beat them in Brownsville, they were short-handed. This is a playoff game and we need to be sharp to beat them."

The winner of the semifinal game will advance to Saturday's championship game and play the winner of the other semifinal game matching second-seeded Texas Wesleyan University and third-seeded Huston-Tillotson University.
