Scorpions Play Best of Game of Season in
5-1 Win

AUSTIN -- Brian
Hardie scored twice to lead the UTB/TSC men's soccer team to an impressive 5-1
victory over Huston-Tillotson University here Saturday, September 15.
The Scorpions, now 3-2-1, will play in Seguin Tuesday, September 18, against Texas Lutheran University. The Scorpions begin their home season at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 20, against the same Huston-Tillotson team at Morningside Park.
"What a performance our guys put on," Scorpion head coach Dan Balaguero said. "We were disappointed about the loss to Our Lady of the Lake, and our guys really wanted to win this one. I’m happy for the guys. Everything clicked. We played at a different level today."
HTU, now 4-2-1, is a member of the Red River Athletic Conference South Zone with the Scorpions, but Saturday's game was a non-conference matchup.
Hardie scored in the 29th minute with an assist by Marco Malovic before HTU tied it up to make it 1-1 at halftime.
Goalkeeper Bojan Maric saved a penalty shot in the 48th minute, and the momentum turned to the Scorpion side of the field.
In the 63rd minute, Marco Malovic scored on a penalty shot, and Hardie scored his second goal in the 67th minute with an assist by Ricki Rodriguez to make it 3-1.
In the 75th minute, Aaron Scutt scored with an assist by Antonio Vernuchi, and Filiberto Cortinas scored in the 88th minute with an assist by Enrique Rivera.
Maric had four saves. The Scorpions took 14 shots.
