Goalkeeper Ruben Chipuli Hernandez from Ciudad Madero, Mexico has signed a Letter of Intent to play soccer with the UTB/TSC men's soccer team.

Chipuli graduated in 2006 from the Tampico Campus of Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. His high school team won its conference championship. Chipuli plans to major in psychology at UTB/TSC.

"I'm very grateful with all the people who made this program happen," Chipuli said.  "I will put all my effort for us to win a national championship. Coach Balaguero has so many great ideas to make it happen."

"Ruben was a keeper we evaluate twice at the tryouts, he is a very athleltic keeper with great distribution, I expect him to provide great competition for a starting spot," Scorpion head men's soccer coach Dan Balaguero said. "Look for us to be very strong in the goalkeeping department with the signing of Ruben in addition to Juan Gamboa. We plan to sign a third goalkeeper."

Gamboa is a senior at Pace High School who signed a letter of intent in April.

The men’s soccer team begins play August 23, 2007 against the Instituto Tecnologico Superiores de Poza Rica Petroleros.
