Posted October 15, 2007
SAN ANTONIO -- The UTB/TSC men's golf team had a disappointing first day of the Trinity University Alamo City Classic Golf Tournament at the Rivers Crossing Golf Course Monday, October 15.

The bad news is that the Scorpions are in sixth place out of eight teams. The good news is that they only trail the leaders by 16 shots after the first day.

"The guys did not handle this course very well, we were in trouble from the get-go," Scorpion head coach Bob Lucio said. "We will play at least 10 strokes better tomorrow. We just had an off day as a group. We'll play much better tomorrow."

Southwestern University leads the tournament with a 302, and two other teams are close behind. Southwestern's Ricky Jones leads the medalist race with a first-round 69.

Jerry Borgogni led the Scorpions on the first day with a 75, followed by O.J. Moreno 80, Chris Milligan 81, Anthony Lopez 82, and Jones Mitchell 85.

On the individual side, Brock Crosson had his best round of the season with a 78, followed by Victor Calzada 80 and Nate Atkins 85.

The second and final round is scheduled Tuesday, October 16.
