"We had a horrible day," Scorpion head golf coach Bob Lucio said. "It was just one of those days where everybody played bad, and all in the same day. But it will make us work that much harder for the next tournament."
Wayland Baptist University won the tournament with a 565 score, nine shots better than Texas Wesleyan University.
In the tournament's first day, all five Scorpion golfers shot 77 or better. In the second day, Jerry Borgogni matched his opening day 77 for a 154 total, but he was the only Scorpion golfer to shoot in the 70s Tuesday.
Jones Mitchell, who had a 72 score on the first day, shot 82 to also finish with a 154 total. Anthony Lopez shot 76-80=156, Chris Milligan 74-82=156, and Agapito Ortega 75-82=157.The next action for the Scorpions will be at the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison Classic in Shawnee, Okla. That tournament will the last competition for the Scorpion men's golf team before the Red River Athletic Conference and Region VI Championship Tournament April 23-24 in Edmond, Okla.
