Scorpion Men's Golf Team Finishes 9th at NAIA Region VI Tourney
Oklahoma City University, the top-ranked team in the country, won its 11th consecutive regional championship. The Stars' Daniel Mitchell won his second straight medalist honor with a 135 on Monday, April 23.
Oklahoma Christian finished a distant second, 27 shots behind, and Texas Wesleyan University finished third. The UTB/TSC men’s golf team shot a team total 622 to place ninth.
The Red River Athletic Conference Tournament was being played concurrently, and the Scorpions finished fourth among RRAC teams. Texas Wesleyan won the RRAC group with a 585 total, while orthwood University was second at 600 and College of the Southwest third at 623.
Anthony Lopez led the Scorpions with a 154, while Chris Milligan had a 159, Jones Mitchell had a 159, Agapito Ortega a 162, and Jerry Borgogni 165.
Oklahoma City advances to the 56th Annual NAIA National Men's Golf National Championships at May 22-25 at Indiana National Golf Club in Plymouth, Ind.
