2nd Annual Winter Baseball League for High School Players Registration Under Way
Posted September 28, 2007
High school baseball players are encouraged to register for the Scorpion Winter Baseball League, starting Thursday, October 11, at Scorpion Field on the UTB/TSC campus.

Nine games will be held for a five-week period on this schedule:

  • Thursday, October 11: 6 p.m. (practice)

  • Sunday, October 14 to Sunday November 11: Games scheduled at 3 and 5 p.m.

  • Thursday, October 18 to Thursday, November 8: Games scheduled at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

  • Thursday, November 15: Championship Night

The league will consist of 4-6 teams of 12-15 players on each team. Teams will be assembled on a first-come, first-served basis. Full teams are also encouraged to register. Although coaches will be provided for each team, high school coaches are more than welcome to come and be a part of the action.

This league will provide a great opportunity for the high school players in grades 10-12 in the Rio Grande Valley to work with the Scorpion coaching staff and players one-on-one. Points of emphasis for the league will be:

  • Playing baseball with a purpose

  • Be a mentally strong player

  • Find your strengths as a player and apply

  • The importance of being a team player

  • Personalized workouts with Scorpion staff and players

High school athletes who wish to play past the high school level are encouraged to attend. This league provides an opportunity to be thoroughly scouted over an extended period of time compared to typical one-day camps. Players will be taught the physical and mental skills which will set them apart, and make them successful at any level of play. Participants will also learn about eligibility for college athletics.

Registration fee is $130 per player. For a registration form, click here.

Full teams registering must also complete a separate team registration form. The team registration fee is $1,000 and is limited to 13 players. Each player must also complete an individual registration form.
