AUSTIN –- Huston-Tillotson University pushed across a run in the bottom of the 11th inning to edge UTB/TSC, 8-7, in 11 innings, at Downs Field Friday, March 2.

The loss ended the Scorpions' winning streak at 4 games and dropped their season record to 6-8-1 while the Rams improved to 7-11. It was the third extra-inning game of the season for the Scorpions, who have lost all three.

"Trey (Garcia) threw a great game," Scorpion head coach Joel Barta said. "We were in control of the game and they only had one big inning. The bottom half our lineup really produced."

Five Scorpion errors hurt the Scorpions. Garcia pitched eight and two-thirds innings, allowing only three earned runs. Lamar Guzman took the loss in relief.

The Scorpions went ahead 2-0 before HTU tied the game at 2-2. UTB/TSC took a 4-2 lead before the Rams erupted for five runs  in the bottom of the fourth to take a 7-4 lead. The Scorpions scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings to tie the game at 7-7 and send it to extra innings.

Jacob Yousif collected two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs to lead the Scorpions' offense.

The Scorpions will conclude their three-game series against the Rams with a non-conference doubleheader at 12 noon Saturday at Downs Field.
