West Texas Winds Wipe Out Scorpion Doubleheader

Posted February 24, 2007

ODESSA – Sustained winds of 40 miles per hour forced cancellation of the doubleheader between UTB/TSC and The University of Texas-Permian Basin Saturday, February 24.

“It was pretty bad, the players and umpires were getting sand in their eyes,” Scorpion head coach Joel Barta said. “The umpires made the decision that it was too dangerous to play.”

UTB/TSC scored one run in the top of the first and pitcher Julian Moya threw three pitches in the bottom of the first when umpires stopped the game, which will not be made up.

The Scorpions (6-7-1), riding a four-game winning streak, will continue their now 17-game, four-week road trip with a three-game non-conference series at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin March 2-3.
