MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- Bacone College
pitcher Zach Willis limited UTB/TSC to one hit over nine innings to lead the
Warriors to a 5-1 victory over the Scorpions to finish a three-game sweep here
Saturday,
February 23, at Warriors Field.
Bacone is now 11-2 this season while the Scorpions drop to 1-15.
Willis struck out eight Scorpions and walked three.
The Scorpions scored their lone run in the sixth when Walter Blume walked, went to third on a single by Jorge Camorlinga, and scored on Chris Walker's sacrifice fly.
The Scorpions had two runners on base on only other inning -- the seventh -- when Brian Dombeck was hit by pitch and Ignacio Celedon walked.
Bacone scored single runs in the second and third innings, and scored three times in the fifth.
Zach Moya allowed six hits over five and one-thirds innings. Jesus Mendoza, Manuel Azcona and Evan Hardman pitched effectively, going two and two-thirds innings without allowing a run or a hit.
The Scorpions return home for a stretch of 17 straight home games within a 17-day span from March 2-18. UTB/TSC plays six doubleheaders and five single games during that span at Scorpion Field.
