Scorpions Swept by Bacone College, 9-7, 14-6

MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- Bacone College scored nine runs in the sixth inning to overcome a UTB/TSC lead for a 14-6 victory over the Scorpions and a sweep of a doubleheader here Friday, February 22, at Warriors Field.

Bacone won the first game 9-7.

UTB/TSC and Bacone will play a single game at 12 noon Saturday, February 23 in Muskogee.

Bacone improved its record to 10-2 while UTB/TSC is now 1-14.

After the weekend series in Oklahoma, the Scorpions return home for a stretch of 17 straight home games within a 17-day span from March 2-18. UTB/TSC plays six doubleheaders and five single games during that span at Scorpion Field.

Warriors 9, Scorpions 7 (first game)

Bacone jumped all over Scorpion starting pitcher Julian Moya for seven runs in the first three innings to take a 7-2 lead. The score was 9-4 when the Scorpions got close with three runs in the top of the seventh to cut the final margin to two runs.

Scott Price and Robby Mang had two hits each, with Price collecting three RBI. Jorge Camorlinga scored twice.

Moya (0-4), who went five and two-thirds innings, took the loss.

Bacone was led by Wandy Rosario, Joel Torres, Julian Alvarez, and Victor Alicea, who had two hits each.

Warriors 14, Scorpions 6 (second game)

UTB/TSC was in position to win its second game of the season, taking a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the sixth. But the Scorpions made their only two errors of the game in the nine-run sixth inning, highlighted by six Warriors hits.

The Scorpions had nine hits while Bacone had 11. Jacob Yousif, Brian Dombeck and Chris Walker had two hits each for the Scorpions, and Ignacio Celedon had two RBI.

Tony Lerma went five innings for the Scorpions, allowing eight earned runs, to take the loss.

Bacone had 11 hits, led by Joel Torres who had three and scored three runs.
