LAREDO -- Jorge Camorlinga had his first four-hit game of the season to lead the Scorpions to an 18-1 rout over NCAA Division II member Texas A&M International University in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday, March 25 at Veterans Field.

TAMIU, members of the Heartland Conference, is now 10-21. The Scorpions, members of the Red River Athletic Conference, are 15-22.

Camorlinga had four singles to raise his team-leading batting average from .373 to .393. The four-hit game was the first of the season by any Scorpion baseball player.

"We swung it pretty good today," Scorpion head coach Joel Barta said. "We didn't leave a whole lot of guys standing around on the bases. It gives us a lot of confidence going into the weekend."

UTB/TSC banged out 16 hits, with Jacob Yousif and Ignacio Celedon collecting three hits each. Camorlinga, Yousif and Tyler O'Neal scored three runs each. Scott Price and Chris Walker each hit their first home runs of the season.

The Scorpions had a 10-0 lead after six innings, added two more in the seventh inning and six runs in the ninth. There was no 10-run rule applied because NCAA rules do not have a 10-run rule unlike the NAIA, which does.

Jon Ali went seven innings for the Scorpions, allowing only one earned run and three hits while striking out two. Andres Monterrubio and Brian Dombeck pitched scoreless innings in relief.

The Scorpions resume RRAC South Zone play in Austin March 28-29 for an important three-game conference series against Huston-Tillotson University. HTU leads the South Zone with a 3-0 record and the Scorpions are in second place at 2-1.
