Scorpions Finish Off 3-Game Sweep of Fisher College, 13-3

UTB/TSC ended a successful 17-game homestand with its third rout of Fisher College, 13-3, Tuesday, March 18, at Scorpion Field.

The Scorpions won all three games over Fisher by the 10-run rule. On Monday, UTB/TSC knocked off the Falcons, 20-1 and 10-0.

UTB/TSC started the 17-game homestand with a 1-15 record, and won 11 of 17 games to improve its record to 12-21. Fisher College dropped to 6-7.

The Scorpions finally begin Red River Athletic Conference South Zone play on the road Friday and Saturday, March 21-22 against Texas College in Tyler.

Scorpion pitcher Jon Ali (1-0) had his best outing of the season, allowing two earned runs and seven hits, while striking out five Falcons and walking two.

Fisher jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning before the Scorpions tied it on the bottom of the first on a two-run double by Andres Monterrubio, who had four RBI in the game.

The Scorpions added two more runs in the third and five in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead. With an 11-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh, the Scorpions ended the game by the 10-run rule with two runs in the bottom of the seventh on back-to-back wild pitches.

Four players had two hits each to lead the Scorpions' 11-hit attack. Ryan MacDonald, Jorge Camorlinga, Monterrubio and Tyler O'Neal had two hits each. O'Neal and Ignacio Celedon drove in two runs each, while Camorlinga scored four times and MacDonald three.

MacDonald had his sixth triple of the season in the game, keeping him ranked among the nation's leaders in triples.
