Viterbo University (Wis.) continued its unbeaten streak with 4-2 and 8-2 victories over the UTB/TSC Scorpions Tuesday, March 4, at Scorpion Field.

UTB/TSC, now 2-18, is back home for a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Scorpion Field against Valley City State University (N.D.), which is 1-3. The two teams split a doubleheader Sunday.

This week, the Scorpions play nine home games in seven days. The Scorpions will play Viterbo in three more games Friday and Saturday, March 7-8, at Scorpion Field.

The Scorpions have eight more home games from March 12-18.

V-Hawks 4, Scorpions 2 (first game)

Errors which plagued UTB/TSC early in the season came back to haunt the Scorpions. UTB/TSC committed four miscues and all four runs allowed by Scorpion pitchers Zach Moya and Evan Hardman were unearned.

The V-Hawks broke open a scoreless game with three unearned runs in the top of the fifth inning, and added one more in the sixth.

UTB/TSC cut the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth when Tyler O’Neal walked, Ignacio Celedon tripled and Gilbert Puente reached on an error. Celedon had two of the Scorpions’ five hits.

Moya went five innings, striking out three and walking six. Hardman pitched the final two innings.

V-Hawks 8, Scorpions 2 (second game)

Viterbo pitcher Chad Walleser threw a complete game five-hitter to lead the V-Hawks in the nightcap.

The V-Hawks took an early 2-0 lead before the Scorpions cut the deficit in half on a Chris Walker single, a throwing error and a sacrifice fly by Jorge Camorlinga.

Viterbo added six runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Scorpions' last run came on a solo homer by Schaune Collins, his second of the season.

Walker had two of the five Scorpion hits.
