
Fifteen alumni suited up for the contest, which ended when Robby Mang was thrown out at the plate trying to score from third on a wild pitch.
Trailing 5-1 going into the ninth, the Scorpions scored three runs on hits by Andres Monterrubio, Walter Blume and Chris Walker, coupled with two walks and two batters reaching base when they were hit by a pitch. With the bases loaded, Mang tried to score on a wild pitch, but was out to end the game.
Walker had two hits for the Scorpions, while Schaune Collins drove in two runs and Blume scored twice. Tony Lerma went the first six innings for the Scorpions and Jon Ali pitched the last two.
Hector Garanzuay, Julio Ruiz and Alex Aquino had two hits each for the Alumni. Ruiz scored two runs, as did Rafa Gonzalez.
Texas Southmost College Board of Trustees Chairman Chester Gonzalez threw out the honorary first pitch before the start of the game.
In an afternoon doubleheader preceding the Alumni game, Laredo Community College won over the Scorpion Junior Varsity, 8-6 and 15-5. LCC and the Scorpion JV play another doubleheader at 11 a.m. Sunday at Scorpion Field.
