Scorpions Begin 2007 Baseball Season February 1

The UTB/TSC
baseball program will begin its
first campaign in the National
Association for Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA) with a
five-game home series against
Instituto Tecnologico
Superior de Poza Rica February
1-3.
The Scorpions will play Poza Rica in a single night game on Thursday, February 1, followed by a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Friday, February 2, and a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 3.
It's the start of a 52-game schedule for the Scorpions, who will be competing in the South Division of the 12-team Red River Athletic Conference. UTB/TSC's division opponents will be Houston Baptist University, Huston-Tillotson University, Jarvis Christian College, Texas College and Wiley College. The North Division is made up of Bacone College, College of the Southwest, Northwood University, Paul Quinn College, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, and Texas Wesleyan University.
The Scorpions will play 20 home games against five opponents on 12 dates -- eight doubleheaders and four single games -- at Scorpion Field on the UTB/TSC Campus. Together with the 32 road games on 19 dates and the Scorpions will play their 52 games on 31 dates -- 21 doubleheaders and 10 single games.
Of the 12 home dates for the Scorpions, the last six dates are against RRAC South Division opponents. UTB/TSC plays a three-game home conference series against Texas College March 23-24, a three-game conference series against Huston-Tillotson University March 30-31, and a three-game conference series against Wiley College April 13-14.
Post-season play begins with the RRAC Tournament at Northwood University in Cedar Hill, Texas May 3-5, which brings together the top three teams in the North and South divisions. The NAIA Region VI Tournament will be held at Houston Baptist University May 10-13, the NAIA Super Region Tournament is May 18-20, and the NAIA National Tournament will be held at Lewiston, Idaho May 26-31.
