Home Board Members Mission Welcome


Committee members are appointed by the Association president.  Board members are encouraged to volunteer for areas that specifically interest them.  Committees and their duties will be determined by the president.  Briefly, these consist of:
 

 

 

 

 

 

2006 Committee Membership

 

All Directors on the Alumni Association Board are required to participate in committee work.  Committee members are appointed by the Association president; however Board members are encouraged to volunteer for areas of specific interest to them.  Committees and their duties are determined by the President. 

Participation in some committees is open to Alumni Association members at large.  Active members interested in serving as members of these committees should contact Ms. Veronica Garcia, Program Director for Alumni Relations at (956) 982-0106 or via email Veronica.M.Garcia@utb.edu.

Current committees are:

Executive Committee

Membership consists of officers of the Board (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer & Parliamentarian).  Committee meets prior to the general session and determines policy and programs to present for board approval.

Board Development Committee

This committee is chaired by the Vice President and is in charge of training/orientation and other workshops for all board members as needed as well as planning the annual Association meeting.  Membership is open to members at large (Executive Committee is required to participate).

Bylaws Committee

This committee is chaired by the Parliamentarian and is charged with reviewing the Association mission statement and bylaws to make updates as needed.

Finance Committee

This committee is chaired by the Treasurer and reviews all fundraising activities of the Association.

Fundraising/Special Events Committee

This committee is responsible for organizing events for alumni to come together and network.  It holds fundraising events throughout the year to increase the scholarship account.

Chair:    Rit Tourigny

 

Membership Committee

This committee recruits members into the alumni association by identifying and locating all former students, parents of, and friends of the university.  It evaluates and enhances membership dues, privileges, and benefits.  It also builds a strong and active alumni association.

Chair:    Yolada De La Riva, Ruben Rangel

 

Public Relations/Marketing Committee

This committee is chaired by the Secretary.  It is the goal of the members to help increase public awareness of the Alumni Association and build a strong association image by using avenues of public relations such as the news media.

Chair:    Maria Ruth Torres

 

Scholarship Committee

This committee is in charge of selecting qualified recipients to receive Alumni Association scholarships.  It establishes the review criteria and selection process and recommends the award amounts.
