University of Texas Brownsville & Texas Southmost College Coordinated Admission Program With UT-Austin

The UT-Austin Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) is for students who applied to UT-Austin but were not initially accepted. They have the option of attending their first year at another UT-System school, and if they meet CAP requirements, they are guaranteed transfer to UT-Austin's College of Liberal Arts or Natural Sciences for their sophomore year.  The Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) provides students with the opportunity for guaranteed admission to the University of Texas at Austin upon completion of first year requirements at a participating UT System university.

First-time freshman who have been offered CAP admission to UT-Austin are eligible to complete their freshman year at The University of Texas-Brownsville and Texas Southmost College.  Students must submit an acceptance contract to UT-Austin no later than May 1st, and identify UTB/TSC as the partner institution where they intend to complete first year requirements.  Admission materials will automatically be forwarded by UT-Austin, therefore, students do not need to submit an additional application to UTB/TSC.

The CAP program requires students to complete 30 semester credit hours of prescribed coursework at UTB/TSC with no grade lower than a C and an overall 3.2 GPA or higher (placement credit may not be used to meet CAP requirements).  If first year program requirements are completed by July 1st, the student will be guaranteed admission to UT-Austin into either the College of Liberal Arts or the College of Natural Sciences (excluding Computer Science).  CAP students should meet with a UTB/TSC Academic Advisor each semester during their first year to review their progress in the program.

Students who do not complete CAP requirements by July 1st of the following year will no longer be guaranteed admission to UT-Austin.  Such students may, however, apply for transfer, but their previous CAP offer won’t be considered in the admission decision.
