Sept
18 Board was briefed on the Premedical Education and Biomedical Research
Programs as well as a grant proposal for a Biomedical Research Facility. .These
efforts are under the leadership of Dr. Eldon Nelson, Dr. Gerson Peltz,
and Dr. Luis Colom of the
University
Council
Oct
3 Dr. Garcia led the group of professional staff and administrators in a
discussion of the UTB/TSC mission and philosophy statements. She challenged
people to think about our core values and asked how we carry them out in our
jobs and lives and how we measure our success. Dr. Martin explained the
complexities of tuition deregulation. Only UTPA, UTPB and UTB are not raising
tuition for the spring semester. UTB will raise tuition and fees in the future.
Discussion centered on various strategies to increase revenues and their
possible consequences. Some possibilities included designated tuition,
incidental fees, tuition discounts and tuition incentives.

Executive Committee recommends Janna Arney, Business Techology to the Committee
on Academic Standards & Student Records.

this appointment is to a University Standing Committee, Janna Arney must be confirmed by the senate. Motion to

Committee appoints Bill Harris as the alternate to the UT System Faculty
Advisory Council.
